What is The Shot?

The Shot is the ultimate Photography destination on the web! This is where photographers come for recognition and critics come to give it to them. Photographers are best known for being behind the scenes and never in ‘The Shot’. We’re changing that!

WHAT’S MY MOTIVATION TO SIGN UP FOR THIS SITE?

Is your wildest fantasy to become the next great photographer or maybe you just have a great eye? Here is your ‘Shot’ at the ultimate prize…Recognition. Get your camera out; remember to remove the lens cover and get ready to take ‘The Shot’. Upload your pictures, enter them in every category, join in on the photo competitions, and let your fans help Russell James decide if you’ve got ‘The Shot’.

Critics
You see things in pictures that others don’t. You are the eyes that thought provoking pictures are taken for. This is the home to photography enthusiast just like you! Join ‘The Shot’, meet photographers, explore your dormant inner photographer, take your critique to the polls and help decide who has ‘The Shot’.

WHAT DO I DO TO ENTER THE COMPETITON?

Create a profile – it’s easy! You will need to sign up online, fill out the standard user information, and upload your pictures – it’s fun and easy. Once your pictures are up and in a category, they are automatically entered into a running contest if they match the category.

HOW DO I WIN?

That part’s simple. You make the Top 5 by having the most votes and then the Judges choose a winner.

HOW DOES THE COMPETITION WORK?

• -Sign up and create your photographer profile.


• -Upload pictures into the category that best fits the image.


• -If your image and its category match the running competition, it will automatically be entered in that            competition.


• -The top 5 pictures with the most votes go off to the finalist round.


• -Russell James and/or our judges will make the ultimate decision and pick only 1 of the 5 finalist as having ‘The Shot’.

Each competition last approximately a week. For example: If a competition starts on Monday it will end the following Monday. A winner will be chosen within approximately 24 hours of the competition end date.

WHAT DO I WIN?

You win recognition from Russell James, our judges and your critiques along with the chance to have your photo aired on VH1.

WILL MY PICTURE BE ON TV?

If your picture is chosen by Russell James as ‘The Shot’, it may air at the end of ‘The Shot’ series on VH1.

CAN I WIN?

YES – Enter as many pictures in as many categories as you want to improve your chances at winning. Don’t forget to get people to vote for your shot.

WHAT KIND OF PICTURES ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

‘The Shot’ is looking for all your pictures (with the exception of your private ones; keep those to yourself). If you have pictures that match our categories, then we encourage you to upload them all. [link to rules]

WHAT IMAGE FORMAT CAN I UPLOAD?

You can only upload JPG format images at this time.

CAN I UPLOAD MORE THAN ONE PICTURE?

YES! We challenge you to upload as many pictures as match our categories and contest.

CAN I ENTER MORE THAN ONE IMAGE IN A CONTEST?

YES! You can enter as many images as you want that match the contest.

CAN I WIN MORE THAN ONE CONTEST?

ABSOLUTELY! Enter them all!

WHAT IF I DON’T FOLLOW THE CONTEST RULES?

Unfortunately, if you don’t follow the competition guidelines your profile and or pictures will magically be disqualified and possibly removed. So be sure to READ the [contest rules]! Mike can you make “contest rules” a link?

MY PICTURE IS UP, BUT I DON’T LIKE IT. CAN I TAKE IT DOWN?

Yes, you can add, delete, or update your profile and pictures if you are signed in to your account.

CAN I EDIT MY PROFILE?

Once you’ve logged in to your account, just click on ‘edit profile’ to be able to change personal account information (address, phone, tags, password). But remember, you can’t change your username. So choose wisely and spell correctly!

I UPLOADED MY PICTURE, BUT IT’S NOT ON MY PROFILE.

It can take anywhere from 15minutes to 3 hours for your picture to post on your profile when traffic is high. Refresh the page after a few minutes and your image should appear.

HOW MUCH DOES PICTURE QUALITY MATTER?

Again, you’re trying to win votes. So it matters! Male sure your pictures aren’t too dark and its content can be seen.

HOW DO I VOTE?

In order to vote you have to be a member. As a member you can vote for pictures that are currently in a running contest. From the contest tab, choose a running contest and find the pictures that speak to you. Then all you have to do is click on “Vote Now” from the photo details page. Vote away!

HOW OFTEN CAN I VOTE?

One (1) vote for each picture per day. So if you like picture and want it to win, come back and vote for that image each day!

HOW DO WE KNOW WHO’S WINNING?

By entering into a specific running contest you can see the most voted images in order from left to right. The most voted image appears as a large image on the running contest.

WHAT IF I DON’T ENTER THE COMPETITION AND JUST WANT TO SURF THE SITE?

Please do. This site is a community for photography enthusiast alike. You’re welcome to visit as often as you like. Remember sign up is quick and easy! Be a critique! You can hang out, and create a profile, vote, blog with your friends. You do not have to compete to have fun on this site.
